WALTER J. BOUCHER
Walt is the
oldest member of the firm, joining the firm while a student at Auburn University in 1959 after duty in the
United States Air Force from 1948 to 1957. Walt was well known as a
fast-pitch softball pitcher and played softball in the East Alabama Area
until he was fifty years of age. Walt's primary practice focus is in the tax
area as well as estate and gift planning.
JOHN A. BRANTLEY, CPA
John
graduated from the University
of Alabama in 1957.
John's area of expertise is auditing with an emphasis on banking.
STEVEN A. BOUCHER, CPA
Steve
graduated with honors from Auburn
University in 1977 with
a B.S. in accounting and started his career with Coopers and Lybrand, LLP,
now PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP. Steve's area of
practice includes governmental auditing, tax, and computer services. He has
completed the AICPA special certification program for governmental accounting
and auditing. Steve has also served as an instructor for professional
development courses in governmental accounting and auditing.
Steve
currently serves as treasurer of the Auburn Alumni Association. He is a past president of the Opelika
Jaycees and the East Alabama Society of CPA's. He has served on Council of
the Alabama Society of CPA's and as a member of the Auburn University School
of Accountancy Advisory Board. He is a past finance committee chairperson of
the First United Methodist Church of Opelika and has served on numerous
church committees. He is a trustee of the Junior Miss Charitable Trust and
coached youth baseball in Opelika
for 13 years.
LYNNE H. BOUCHER, CPA
Lynne
graduated with honors from Auburn
University in 1977 with
a B.S. in accounting. She began her career with Arthur Young, now Ernst and
Young, LLP. Her primary focus is on estate planning and taxes as well as
governmental auditing. She has completed the AICPA special certification
program for governmental accounting and auditing.
She has
served as a Sunday School teacher for 10 years and on numerous committees at
the First United Methodist
Church. She has served
as past president of the East Alabama Society of CPA's and volunteered her
time to support the numerous activities of her children including the Opelika
High School Band and the Opelika Tennis Program.
WALLACE FARR, CPA
Wally
graduated with honors and first in the School
of Business from Auburn University
in 1974. Wally began his career by joining Price Waterhouse, now PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP, and stayed with the firm for
seven years rising to the manager level. During this time, Wally passed the
CPA exam on the first try and gained valuable experience in manufacturing,
insurance, stock brokers, banking, real estate, mining, and steel fabrication
industries. One of his strengths is helping businesses develop controls and
procedures which allow them to operate more efficiently and effectively.
Wally is a
deacon of the First
Baptist Church
where he has served on the Finance Committee. Wally is also a past member of the
Executive Board of the Lee County Red Cross and Chairman of the Finance
Committee.
BRIEF HISTORY
Our firm
was founded in March 1959 by Woodham W. Cauley, CPA. Mr. Cauley
practiced as a sole practitioner until 1976 when John H. Brantley and William
L. Stephens formed a partnership with Mr. Cauley
known as Cauley & Associates. In 1981, Mr. Cauley retired from practice and the firm changed its
name to Brantley, Stephens & Boucher. The firm became a limited liability
partnership in 1997. In 2000, Mr. Stephens left the firm and the firm changed
its name to Brantley, Boucher & Farr LLP.
